We started Pink Trumpet because we believe that developing strong systems and processes to guide your work in the social sector should not be an afterthought. We know all too well that the most intimidating part of any project is coming up with a plan.
About the Founder
Hello! My name is Hawwa (pronounced Haw-wa, just like it’s spelled!).
I’ve spent over a decade in the nonprofit sector, working in nonprofits that run programs, and working in foundations that provide funding for nonprofits. One thing is clear: great organizations thrive because of the systems (and people) that support them.
I founded Pink Trumpet because I love research, connecting different ideas, and infusing equity into the way we develop clear processes that will lead to solutions. My passion for this work is grounded in 10+ years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. What began as an internship at one of the largest grant-making organizations in West Africa led to a career exploring issues around best practices in philanthropy and the larger implications this has on the nonprofit sector. I’ve volunteered and worked with a variety of preeminent foundations and national and local nonprofits, and in 2015, I decided to use my experience to help people and organizations tackle the challenges associated with helping to get good ideas off the ground.
My preferred gender pronouns are (she/her/hers) and when I’m not working, you can find me looking up a new recipe to master that will take me to some far corner of the world. I am a social entrepreneur with a passion for helping others bridge creative ideas with sustainable strategies to achieve positive social impact.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University.
